Khadijah Mumuni (born in 2001, Lambeth, United kingdom) is a British-Nigerian BA (hons) Fine Art graduate student from the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, touring through the relationship between general identity, dissociative identity disorder (DID) mental disorders and pre-adolescence trauma. Since showing interest in the sculptural scene since 2018, she has worked hard to capture and intrigue the art community with her mix-media and abstract sculptural work. Khadijah gathers much of her inspiration from personal experiences, the cultural environment, and past and current fashion movements around the world.
'Honestly there so much I can say but I don’t think there is enough characters to express all of me so I will keep it short. At first, I used my BA course to educate myself about the culture that I never got to experience. Feeling brainwashed, I used this time to realise what I truly wanted to do with my time on this earth... That turned out to be learning about the fashion industry as a whole. Designing, patterning, measuring, cutting, sewing, accessorising, photography and luxury sales. I started teaching myself using the materials attainable to me and am especially interested in modernising traditional methods. historical and cultural fashion from all time periods and countries.
I hope to finish achieving a name of recognition for myself. Creating a couture brand and having my works walk the red carpet, it felt like an unattainable dream for so long however I have realised that if I don’t reach out then I have no way of obtaining the things I want to achieve.'
Khadijah's work has been well received by buyers and critics alike. If you would like to request a commission, work together with Khadijah, or if you have a specific project you would like to propose, please do not hesitate to contact her.
