MATTERS OF CARE DARE SHARE/ GLASSY EYES
LINEAR GALLERY - UCA FARNHAM
While watching the movie Django i had the idea to create a piece called glossy eyes. I realized that the slaves in the movie all had glossy eyes. The same bys that many black people have, including my one parents, as if they are in constant pain from their ancestors.

COMING UP FOR AIR / A MESSAGE FOR THE MIND, 2021
JAMES HOCKEY GALLERY - UCA FARNHAM
I have decided to go the media of film. I enjoy making phycological short movies and know that the media is the easiest way to spread the message of the negatives of air pollution. Like the visuals from 'clockwork orange' and the opening for 'robot chicken', watching forced images to get a point across seems to keep messages in the watches mind.
My idea involves visuals being played on a projector showing a series of bad events the include or have been caused or cause air pollution, mixed in with the images of clean air and calming situations paired with calming sounds. Making the video a detox of sorts.
Supported by Surrey County Council and to coincide with the UN summit on climate change (COP26) in Glasgow and COP26 Green Zone Event in Farnham Town Centre themed 'Decarbonisation of Transport in a Rural County'. The Green Zone Event, on the afternoon of 10th November, is funded by the Greater South East Energy Hub. It aims to showcase and promote local sustainability issues.
This is an invitation to BA & MA fine art students and Fine Art staff, to respond to the challenges that climate change brings, and the opportunities that a more sustainable engagement with our immediate locality and natural environment offer. High car usage and congestion effects our air quality and is contributing to climate change and the warming of the planet. Ways to combat this include increased active travel (such as walking and cycling), reducing the number of journeys we make, and switching to electric vehicles and public transport. These all contribute to a more sustainable future. We are seeking works that responds to this context.

UCA / (MAN)MADE
FARNHAM PARK
The main idea was to let the chosen artists decide what their individual idea of manmade meant to them and then create a piece of work in that image. We discussed this among ourselves, and realized that even in our small group, we had different ideas around the term. When I think about ‘manmade’ I visualize the making of rivers, by packing the sides with sand to control nature as we have the urge to do with everything in order to feel calm. Clare made a different suggestion on the word, she considered the word to be related to the materials used in objects, things without impurities; iron, gold, concrete, etc. we had to come to a decision, so as to not make the exhibitions meaning too broad, so we created our own criteria in the original one, putting boundaries where the artist explore, so that looking at one piece of work with correlate to the other.

tHe nuaNce ExhiBit*Hon / Prejudice and Justice
THE MULBERRY - FARNHAM
tHe nuaNce Exhibit*Hon focuses on the theme of Prejudice and identity. Works that make viewers think about how, where and what they identify with. These works should help to encourage people to think about where they call home and why they call it this.
These works were exhibited in the mulberry pub in Farnham, where locals of that area will visit and get a sense of these different spaces. Due to the small location, the works were if they were paintings/photography. This was also best as remote works were easily made into prints.
The exhibition itinerary shows the works of Ash Margret Cheatham (@ashmargaretphoto) and O Yemi Tubi (MOYAT) (@oyemit) from a new point of view, in their response to prejudisum on all accounts that's race, discrimination, the body, sexism and psychology to name a few. A special thanks to the @curatorspace for making this exhibition possible.
On display were works that open our eyes to understanding a better future. It was interesting to see other artists ideas on the concept and questioning ‘How you think prejudice actions have impacted our own identity or sense of space?’.
The exhibition is curated by Khadijah Mumuni, Mia Bilbeisi and Niven Brush.
